8-Day Program 2027
$1,040.00

In 2027 we are trialling something new - an 8-day program! We also have single-gender programs (girls-only and boys-only) options available.

Our 8 day program is a shorter version of our much-loved signature 10-day program. It has many of the same great features, but we’ve reduced the number of days to suit those young people with weekend work and sporting commitments and to have them return to school feeling energised for the week ahead.

This program will include an overnight hike, farm-time and river adventures and is for ages 14-17 years old.

This new program is for young people who haven’t yet completed a 10-day or 8-day program (you can still do this program if you have been to Mittagundi on a winter or school program)

What is an 8-day program?

NEW TRIAL FOR 2027!!

Available in mixed or single-gender programs (girls-only or boys-only).

Our 8 day program is a shorter version of our much-loved signature 10-day program. It has many of the same great features, but we’ve reduced the number of days to suit those young people with weekend work and sporting commitments and to have them return to school feeling energised for the week ahead.

This program will include an overnight hike, farm-time and adventure activites such as rafting, sledding or abseiling and is for ages 14-17 years old.

Our 8 day program sees groups of up to 24 young people journey through the Victorian High Country and into the 400 acre farm, that is Mittagundi. They spend time working together on the farm, fencing, growing food, milking cows, working with wood, steel and wool. They embark on adventures such as rafting and sledding the Mitta Mitta River or abseiling off a local cliff face before returning to civilisation.

The atmosphere at Mittagundi is simple, honest and happy. There are no watches, no timetables and no money. Instead there is an opportunity for young people to live and work together with others in an environment where people matter more than anything else.

Mittagundi prides itself on offering opportunities to as many young people as possible. In saying this we need to be able to offer the correct support where necessary. Mittagundi is not a therapeutic outdoor education centre. We can accommodate young people with special needs and this process begins by having a conversation with our staff.

All programs start and finish traditionally at Albury train station and match up with the train times from Southern Cross, Melbourne.

Who can go?

Courses are made up of young people aged 14-17 from a wide variety of schools and backgrounds. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone else when you arrive, in fact it can be better this way, as you are free to be whoever you want to be! You don't need to be super fit either or have any experience with camping or farm life. It's all about giving it a go.

Mittagundi encourage only up to 6 students from the 1 school on any one program. Please note - young people need to have already turned FOURTEEN before they can attend a 10 day program.

If you've already been on a 10 day program - check out our Follow Up Programs. You're only allowed to go on one 8 or 10 day program, but you can go on as many follow ups as you like!

What if I can’t afford it?

We believe that ALL young people should have the opportunity to come to Mittagundi.

No one should miss out due to finances.

What do I need to pack?

Don’t stress about the gear - we have lots of gear to lend out and our program leaders will check each young person’s gear before the start of the hike to make sure it is suitable. We run a packing session so that you only hike in/out with what you need and everything else will get driven to the farm.
